Open Your Eyes !!!

Today is another sad and black day for Malaysia. You would have read that 5 Hindraf leaders have been arrested without trial under the draconian Internal Security Act (ISA), exactly two decades after the last Operasi Lalang.

There appears to be plenty of such sad and black days in recent weeks. Who would have thought that the seemingly genial Prime Minister, Pak Lah, when he took over the reigns of the Government could have been such an incompetent, uninspiring, sleeping and heartless leader?

But enough about Pak Lah, I've ranted enough 2 days ago here. Now, I'd just like to provide a little more insight to one of those arrested, a little known unsung hero, 34 year old lawyer, V Ganabathirau, who hit the limelight recently as one of the core leaders of Hindraf.

As you may have read from the New Straits Times (NST) yesterday, Gana is a DAP member. What makes the whole ugly episode we saw today close to me, is that Gana is a member of DAP Damansara branch, of which I'm the chairperson. Gana joined me in March this year, and subsequently helped form the Taman Muda branch in Shah Alam, of which he is the advisor.

Having known him for the past 8 months or so, I can't claim to know him inside out. But there are somethings which I will vouch for him with my life.

Gana is not a racist. He is not a religious fanatic and neither is he in anyway at all, a terrorist as he is insinuated to be. Having known him well in recent months, he is the complete opposite of what the Pak Lah administration, through the mainstream mouthpieces will like to paint him to be.

Gana is a full-blooded Malaysian, who strongly believes that all Malaysians regardless of ethnicity must have equal opportunities to succeed. While some may quibble over the fact that Hindraf could have taken a greater multi-racial outlook in its position, no right thinking Malaysian will deny them the fact that the overwhelming majority of Indians in this country are severely marginalised and lives below or near the poverty line.

The way politics in Malaysia are framed at this point of time, it is unsurprising that the ethnic Indians found themselves having to stand up and be counted. They really have nothing else to lose.

Some will argue that I can afford to spend some time on politics today because I've made some money after having sold my company. However, Gana, despite having just started his own fledging law firm, found himself travelling frequently (i.e., at least weekly) between Teluk Intan, his hometown and Shah Alam where he now stays, in order to provide his community services to the needy and unfortunate. He even rented and refurbished a service centre in Teluk Intan with his own money, to carry out his services.

When I received cases at my own service centre in Damansara Utama, and was in need of legal services to assist the complainants, Gana offered his with absolutely no hesitation. For example, there was a group of 7 contractors who failed to receive payment from a housing developer, Gana took up their case and offered legal advise pro bono. When legal actions were required, I actually had to convince him to accept some payment from these contractors! Guess what, these contractors were all Chinese but race, as should be the case for all right-thinking Malaysians, never ever came into the picture.

Gana, the youngest of 3 brothers, is a son that would have made any family proud. He belongs to the Indian Telugu community and grew up in a poor family which just about made enough to survive. Gana never manage to have the privilege of completing his education at one go. After finishing Form 5, he had to take up various odd jobs to help support himself and his family.

That however, did not prevent him from investing his earnings and taking up part-time courses to pursue his ambition of becoming an officer of the court. His dream came true in his late twenties when he graduated with a law degree from the University of London external programme. He plied his trade as a legal assistant with a law firm in Teluk Intan before saving sufficiently to set up his own firm, having moved to Shah Alam late last year.

But all these while, he held political ambitions, ambitions not to further enrich himself by illegal and unethical means, but ambitions to help play a part in the betterment of his marginalised community as well as Malaysians in general. Having set up his own firm, it provided him, for better or worse, the flexibility to spend time on social and political causes. And he did it with all his heart and soul.

Gana was married not too long ago to a school teacher. And only just on Merdeka day this year, his first, now barely 4-month old baby daughter, was born. If Pak Lah has his way, by the time Gana is released from ISA detention, his daughter would be more than 2 years old. When Gana first pointed out his wife to me sitting in the court stands when he was being charged with sedition in Klang sessions court, you could visibly see tears in her eyes. Her fears have unfortunately come true.

Gana told me that his wife was a former Tamil school debater and is very politically aware. In fact, in the earlier years, she used to tease him that he only knew how to "talk" politics but never got his hands dirty. More recently however, she will half-jokingly tell him that she regretted having ever encouraged him to join the fight for a just cause.

Gana is a good man. He has sacrificed selflessly to help create a better Malaysia for all Malaysians, particularly for the underprivileged and marginalised community. He has rose quickly to prominence through sheer tenacity, hardwork, eloquence and dedication to the cause. 30,000 Indians from all parts of Malaysia walked the streets of Kuala Lumpur not because they had nothing better to do, but because they shared his cause, and they believed that "enough is enough!

"For that, Pak Lah who is clearly unable to hear, accept and deal with the truth, invoked the draconian ISA in the hope of sweeping all under the carpet.

Thankfully, Gana has a kind and loving family members who will help take care of the needs of the mother and child. The DAP, as announced by the party secretary-general, will be setting up a fund to assist the families of those who have been detained without trial.

My eyes were moist as I wrote this post. I firmly believe that Gana will be a stronger man post-detention. You would not have heard the last of him for a long time yet. I expect him to be a future leader of this country, a rare breed of the much needed righteous, caring, intelligent and dedicated kind who will only contribute immensely to creating a better Malaysia for our future generations. His personal sacrifices must not, and will not be in vain.Share this story with others who need to see the other side of the coin.

(Footnote: I've been corrected that he is actually the middle and not the youngest son of 3 brothers. ;-))

Update from The star

PETALING JAYA: Five Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders have been arrested and detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

The five are P. Uthayakumar, M. Manoharan, R. Kenghadharan, V. Ganabatirau and T. Vasanthakumar. They were picked up at various locations in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Seremban.

It is learnt they were detained under Section 8 (1) of the ISA after Internal Security Minister Datuk Seri Abdulah Ahmad Badawi signed their detention order.
Their detention is for two years.

Uthayakumar and two others namely Ganabatirau and P. Waythamoorthy were charged under the Sedition Act on Nov 23 in Klang 23 for allegedly making speeches to incite hatred at a gathering in Batang Berjuntai, Selangor, on Nov 16. Waythamoorthy is currently overseas.

Under Section 73 (1) of the ISA, the police can detain any individual for up to 60 days without a warrant, trial and without access to legal counsel if he was suspected to have “acted or is about to act or is likely to act in any manner prejudicial to the security of Malaysia or any part thereof or to maintenance of essential services therein or to the economic life thereof."

After 60 days, the Minister of Home Affairs can extend the period of detention without trial for up to two years, without submitting any evidence for review by the courts, by issuing a detention order, which is renewable indefinitely.

Finally go on ISA!!!!

5 HINDRAF leader's finally detained under ISA under Abdullah Administration .

The detainees are: P. Uthayakumar, M. Manoharan, R. Kenghadharan, V. Ganabatirau and T. Vasanthakumar.

Going by past records in Malaysia, ISA epitomizes imprisonment without trial.

Lim Kit Siang - PM & DPM liars!!!!!!

How could god fearing leaders perpetuate a lie in order to further their agenda of remaining inoffice?

For DPM, Najib to label Hindraf as a violent and extremist group is doing a great injustice to the marginalised miniority Malaysian indians. This is a blatant lie that honest, fair minded citizens cannot accept as the truth.

How could a peaceful group of Hindraf supporters who participated in a peaceful assembly just two weeks ago suddenly being transformed into a terrorist group is beyond the comprehension of Malaysians of all race and creed.

Quite obviously, Najib was merely parroting what the Attorney-General Gani Patil was arguing in the courts to deny bail for the 31 Hindraf supporters. (They were denied bail.) On the basis of a flimsy Police report without proper investigative measure he surmised that Hindraf was a terrorist group with contacts with the Tamil Tigers, LTTE.

How could any one classify Hindraf as a terrorist group when their only crime to date was to participate in a peaceful assembly to articulate their grievances? An assembly that was deemed illegal because of the govt’s decision not to issue them with a permit.

If at all it was accused as a terrorist organisation then it must be the world’s most harmlessgroup of terrorists because it had not fired a single bullet, it has not caused any violence, it has not professed the destruction of any instituition and yet beyond the imagination of fair minded people they were called an extremist terrorist organisation.

Perhaps their only folly or mistake was to insert the offensive term of ethnic cleansing in their memorandum of petition which they had purpotedly filed with the British Embassy.A more appropriate replacement of words in their petition would be marginalisation and discrimination of the non-malays in general and the Indians in particular.

For the PM to follow the DPM in lying is most unforgiveable, especially in full public view of the mainstream media.

At the IMT-CT SME conference and Expo 2007 the PM went on record to say,”Half of the cabinet is non-malays,non UMNO members and non-muslims”. If we refer to the Prime Minister Office web-site we will find that 69% or 22 out of the 32 cabinet Ministers are from UMNO, 23 out of 32 cabinet Ministers are Malays, 25 out of 32 ministers are bumiputra and 23 cabinet Ministers are muslims.

I do not wish to be too harsh on both of them because they are both religious people but would I be impolite to say that they are both liars?

Lim Kit Siang - Freedom of Media

As former top journalist, Zainuddin Maidin should have blazed the path and expanded space for greater media freedom. Instead he has done the reverse.

Although the instruments of repressive media control are with the Ministry of Internal Security, it is Zam as Information Minister who presented the public face of the Barisan Nasional government of such media control. In fact, he is the Barisan Nasional ideologue for media control and censorship.

Last year, Zainuddin was awarded the Eminent Journalist (Tokoh Wartawan) in appreciation of his contribution to journalism in the country.

Who gave away the award to him? None other than the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak during the Malaysian Press Night 2006 organised by the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) in November last year.

I do not know how Zainuddin dared to accept the award of Tokoh Wartawan when he has become the “Predator of the Press” as the government’s chief hatchet man to suppress press freedom in the country.

In the last few days, there are already several cases of the screws being tightened to throttle press freedom and the fundamental constitutional right of freedom of expression of Malaysians.

Only yesterday, top editors of Tamil and Chinese dailies were hauled to a 90-minute meeting in Putrajaya for the latest dose of brain-washing – not not to highlight stories and photographs relating to the Hindraf rally on Nov 25 and on all other matters involving the coalition.

Malaysiakini today, under its report “Ministry clamps down on Hindraf coverage” stated:
“We were basically told not to give prominence to Hindraf,” said an editor, adding that Tamil-language dailies were specifically mentioned for their coverage of the rally.

At the same time, the editors were also told not to publish news that would put the police and the government in a bad light.”

Malaysiakini yesterday reported that several presenters – including some popular ones – had been punished for supporting Hindraf.

It is learnt that seven radio DJs of Minnai FM had been punished, including two presenters working on contract.

This is from the Malaysiakini report - The severe action was for either taking part in the Hindraf-organised rally in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 25 or for giving prominence for the rally and Hindraf on air, added the sources.

Among those sacked or suspended are popular DJs K Meenakumari, K Sillalee and V Jamuna. The latter was a hugely popular contract presenter.

State-owned Tamil radio station Minnal FM has been urged to lift the suspension imposed on several presenters over their alleged involvement in the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) rally.

Media watchdogs Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) and the Writers Alliance for Media Independence (WAMI) have called for the lifting of the suspension as they were concerned that suspected involvement in the rally had been used as a basis to suspend the presenters.

Their joint statement said: “The action taken against the presenters only creates the perception that the government is intolerant (of) the democratic rights of its employees.”
The groups said the suspension indicated that Minnal FM viewed as an offence, the involvement of its staff in their personal capacity in public assemblies.

The joint statement said: “CIJ and WAMI would like to stress that freedom of assembly is a right guaranteed under the Federal Constitution and the radio presenters should not be discriminated against the right due to their professional relation to the government.”

Then there is the ridiculous case reported by Malaysiakini of the song Seloka Cak Kun Cak nyanyian bersama Tan Sri SM Salim dan M Nasir kena gam kerana terlalu banyak menyebut perkataan ‘bersih’!

On November 10, there was a 40,000-strong turn-out for the BERSIH gathering in support for electoral reforms for clean, free and fair elections. The Bersih initiative was so successful that the authorities seem to have developed a phobia for the word “bersih”, as in the sudden coldness towards the song Seloka Cak Kun Cak.

Bahagian yang dikatakan tidak senangi itu ialah bahagian korus lagu tersebut yang berbunyi:
Kulitnya bersih, hatipun bersih
Budi yang baik hatinya pengasih
kulitnya bersih, hatipun bersih
memikul belati tiada yang memilih

Jadikan bersih, hatipun putih
Berkata benar bermulut fasih
Jadikan bersih, hatipun putih
Biarlah khazanah pintu terpilih

Secara keseluruhannya, lagu tersebut menceritakan sejarah kegemilangan orang Melayu pada suatu ketika dahulu.

Is the government so insecure that it is now afraid of the word “bersih” that a clamp has to be imposed on the song, Cak Kun Cak?

Bernama - Court Refuses Bail For 31 Hindraf Supporters

SHAH ALAM, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- Thirty-one people, believed to be supporters of the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf), have been denied bail.

Twenty-six of them were charged on Tuesday and the other five, yesterday with several offences including attempted murder on a police officer during an illegal assembly organised by the group in front of the Sri Subramaniar Temple in Batu Caves on Nov 25.

Sessions Court Judge Azimah Omar, who took about 20 minutes to read out her decision today, said the court had taken into account the fact that public interest precedes the interests of all the accused.

In this case, she said, the prosecution did not offer bail because all of them were facing a charge under Section 307 of the Penal Code, namely attempted murder, which is non-bailable except at the court's discretion.

She said that in considering the issue of bail, the court had to consider several matters including whether there was a reasonable belief that the accused had committed the offence, the risks and concerns that the accused would commit a similar offence or other offences and the possibility of the accused tempering with the witnesses.

"Nevertheless, according to the law, the list is not exhaustive because other factors also have to be considered like the accused's health and public interest," she said.

Azimah said the defence had failed to furnish clear evidence with regard to the three accused who were said to be suffering health problems. One of the accused was said to have a kidney problem and required haemodialysis but the dialysis card submitted was not clear, while no medical records had been given to the court in respect of another accused who was said to be suffering from heart disease, she said.

She said the 18 pictures in the form of computer images that were submitted to the court yesterday as a ground for bail were not authenticated even though the defence claimed that they were taken by a man.

"This case is not an ordinary case but involves the accused who are alleged to have participated in an illegal gathering and a gathering does not involve only the accused but also the general public.

"The gathering also involves national security and does not involve racial and religious issues and on these grounds, the court is not allowing bail for all the accused," she said firmly.

Indian , 50 years is Enough !!!!!!!

The next general election , expected on earlier of 2008 .If you are INDIAN then Vote For Any Opposition .Give Them A Chance To Change For A Better Malaysia . After all and all now they want to charged 26 indian with false charges. We also should charge them(police) for cause injured on many Hindraf supporter . Dear Malaysian Think For A Better Malaysia.

26 charged for illegal gathering(they said)!!!

SHAH ALAM: Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Patail made a personal appearance at the Sessions Court here to lay charges against 26 people who allegedly took part in an illegal gathering at the Sri Subramaniar Temple in Batu Caves on Nov 25.

One of the charges was participation in an illegal assembly which led to an attempted murder.

The high-powered prosecution team comprised Abdul Ghani, A-G’s Chambers’ prosecution head Datuk Yusof Zainal Abiden and Selangor prosecution chief Nik Suhaimi Nik Sulaiman.

The 26 were charged with being in an illegal assembly and using criminal force on policeman Dadi Abdul Rani with the intent of causing death, under Section 149 of the Penal Code that was punishable under Section 307 of the same code.

They were also charged with participating in an illegal assembly and causing damage to public property. Both are non-bailable charges.

Ten of them claimed trial to a main charge under Section 27 (5) of the Police Act 1967 and an alternative charge under Section 143 of the Penal Code for taking part in an illegal assembly.

A drama started at the outset of the proceedings when three volunteer lawyers from the Bar Council discharged themselves after one of them had a fallout with Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) lawyer P. Uthayakumar.

Later, Abdul Ghani said the accused were all charged under non-bailable charges and that Judge Azimah Omar had to hear all arguments before using her discretion to allow them bail.
Azimah agreed and adjourned the case to today and ordered the accused to be held in police custody.

She said she would not use her discretionary powers to release the accused on bail without hearing to the arguments of both sides.

Admin : The Malaysia goverment dint yet have seen the real fighter , if you see you will cry!!! In the next general election , my wish is Barisan Nasional Goverment lead by UMNO will be defeated by oppositon!!!!!!!!!!

Billa , Old and New

For those who watches tamil movie, cannot afford to miss Billa. Sorry not the new Billa but then old Billa with Rajinikanth. Well yeah we are all getting into the trend of remaking. Indian film is entering into the remake era. No harm done, just some easy way to make new story in modern way. Anyway lets have a peek into the old Billan 1980 and the all new Billa 2007..

First respect to Billa 1980...

Billa (Rajnikanth) is the leader of an underworld gang. The DSP is tracking down Billa and in one of their confrontations the DSP wounds Billa, resulting in his death. The DSP then secretly holds a burying of Billa. After which the DSP remembers a person who looks like Billa, he then tracks that person down. The DSP requests Raju to impersonates Billa so that the DSP can take down the rest of Billa's gang, Raju requests that the DSP promises him that he will give a proper education to the children that he is looking after. But in an unexpected turn of events the DSP dies. The DSP is the only one who knows the truth about our impersonator who now finds himself in a life-threatening situation - hunted by both the cops and the real Billa's henchmen and to make matters worse, he then finds out that Interpol Officer is a crook and has taken the place of the real person. He is the one responsible for the DSP's murder. It's now a race to retrieve a the DSP's diary in which the DSP has documented his substitution of the real Billa.

Nowday's Billa 2007 ....

In 2007, the drug trade is booming. The Malaysian Intelligence and Anti-Narcotic Department are called upon for assistance by their Indian counterparts. There are rumours that a drug gang has recently moved their headquarters to Kuala Lumpur.

The Indian team is headed by the DCP (Rahman) who wants to break the back of the drug operations of a drug lord. He believes that capturing the drug Lord's dangerous and elusive lieutenant, Billa, (Ajith Kumar), will be the most effective way of accomplishing this. Billa's gang consist of Narang (Santhanam) and Anita (Namitha). Soon, Roma (Nayanthara) joins them but she has other plans - kill Billa. Billa was responsible for killing her brother Ramesh as well as his fiancee, Kamini.

During a chase with the police the real Billa is critically injured and is captured by the DSP. He keeps it a secret that he has captured Billa, even from his fellow officers, and tracks down a look-alike called Jeeva, a lowly singer (also played by Ajith Kumar). He asks Jeeva to infiltrate Billa's gang by pretending to be Billa. In return he will make sure that the child Jeeva found and adopted, Deepu gets a proper education. Meanwhile Jasjit who has just been released from prison sets out in search for his son, Deepu, and to get his revenge on the DSP who arrested him and prevented him from rescuing his wife and child from black mailers, this in turn killed his wife and left his son missing.

The DSP trains Jeeva and admits him in a hospital (in which Billa is also admitted and supposedly in coma) to surgically give him all the scars and birthmarks the real Billa has on his body. However Billa dies of heart failure suddenly in front of the DSP and the doctors, who are unable to save him. While Jeeva is infiltrating Billa's gang, the DSP is captured and killed in a fire blast; and Jeeva is forced to run from the police as well as Billa's gang members -- pursuing the last piece of evidence (a disc) which has all of Billa's criminal activities loaded on it, a disc which can get him out of this mess. Through various plot twists, Jeeva recovers the disc. Eventually, it surfaces that the DSP is alive and is actually Vardhan, a notorious underground criminal with a grudge against the Drug Lord, Billa's boss, and eventually ends up killing him. Jeeva arranges a meeting with Vardhan and assists in his capture. In a final twist, it emerges that the real Billa is still alive, and was pretending to be Jeeva who he killed and replaced while in the hospital. It was actually Jeeva who had died in the hospital of heart failure in front of Vardhan. In the end both Billa and his girlfriend Anita (Namitha) escape, bewildering the police and Roma.

Boycott MainStreamMedia !!!!!

(Turned off by the mainstream media treatment of the Hindraf demonstration on Sunday, 25th November 2007, Malaysiakini columnist Helen Ang has made the following call for boycott of the newspapers.)

by Helen Ang
Malaysiakini Nov 29, 07

I feel like I’ve just been slapped, kicked and punched. And I’m neither Indian nor Hindu.
The way mainstream media (MSM) have painted our fellow Malaysians black makes me thoroughly sick. MSM have assaulted Indians through their derogatory portrayal of the community and it stings me. Aliran Media Monitor’s Diary has effectively dissected MSM spin on the Hindraf rally to show up how unconscionable their coverage has been.

When a community with its back to the wall takes to the street, I sympathise. I do not mock the melodramatic form of their lawsuit and petition. I understand that the massive turnout on Nov 25 was a cry of distress. Nathaniel Tan’s ‘Why I will walk this Sunday’ is an eloquent peroration on why all Malaysians must wake up, now.

I wish I had read Nat’s piece earlier but it was only uploaded on his blog Saturday – a mere day before the gathering was to take place. His exposition is something to turn over in our heads and help us in our soul-searching because Nat spoke straight from the heart. Mighty MSM, I’m afraid, speak from the pay pocket.

There was a dearth of information in the public domain running up to the Hindraf rally, and later contradicting accounts of what really happened. Which only indicates MSM have long since lost any right to call themselves ‘newspapers’. A fortnight earlier, the Star had quoted police on a crowd segment of 4,000 at the Bersih march. This small number is deliberately misleading.

And again with Hindraf, MSM deliberately omitted an accurate depiction of the massive turnout. They failed to credit why Indians streamed into KL from all over the country. All they did was spin for their political masters.

What’s important to MSM

The Star peddles itself as the People’s Paper. This People’s Paper gave the Bersih rally all of a single page’s coverage, reflecting how much The Star thinks of the Malaysian people – us. It did not carry any picture of the crowds or of human beings. It had one photograph of motorcars stuck in a jam.

When casino magnate Lim Goh Tong died, he was front page news. Bersih on the other hand was hidden away in the middle pages. The Star devoted seven pages to the late tycoon. And it talked about the Tan Sri for days after, to the extent of telling us how much his funeral wreaths cost.
Lim is not ‘people’, he’s one person. Instead of the People’s Paper, the Star might want to consider tagging itself ‘the Very Important Person or VIP’s Paper’.

Then there was that column in The Sun headlined “Not everybody needs to demonstrate, please” which implied the tens of thousands of Malaysians at the Bersih rally had turned out in support of “a group whose acronym could be mistaken for a Clean Toilet campaign”. Jacqueline Ann Surin wrote: “All I wanted to do last Saturday was go for a facial …”

Almost everyone took Surin’s flippant column at face value. She’s a well-known journalist who has advocated working within the system. However, her own take on the Bersih march is surely an indictment of the system’s limitations. ‘Proper channels’ serve only to restrict the reporter and his report becomes equivocal. Surin is an assistant news editor no less; how would foot soldiers fare in trying to get their stories past the gatekeepers?

Meaningful access to the public is ever so precious in these our turbulent times; Surin wasted hers talking about her irrelevant Saturday. I am going to fight for the public space which will enable a write-up like blogger Nat Tan’s unflinching Sunday to get the widest possible airing.

Call for Hartal

‘Do we, the people, have it in us to bring the falsehood mongers to their knees?’

The above question was tossed by civil rights lawyer Haris Ibrahim in The People’s Parliament. What Haris asks is urgent in view of the general election coming up.

We need credible information. The public knew too little about Hindraf before last week and hence couldn’t make up our minds whether to support the march or not. So we don’t want to be confused by MSM lies when the election comes around.

We need credible reporters to seek and speak the truth, even if these are citizen journos in pyjamas. There have been three street walks, all of them ‘illegal’. The authorities have criminalised the freedom to assemble peacefully – a right guaranteed us in our Constitution. MSM is in denial by making out participants of the walks to be the bad guys.

Newspapers are nothing more than errand boys delivering warning telegrams from Umno and its lackeys: May 13, ISA, sack teachers who support Hindraf and other innumerable threats.

These newspapers do not have many credible news editors, only some incredible spinmeisters.

Not only does MSM keep us in the dark, they spooked us with Hindraf’s alleged sedition, left us wondering whether the gathering would proceed, and if another Ops Lalang was underway.

We buy newspapers with the expectation of reading reliable reports but if these are not forthcoming, why waste money? Or pay to have our intelligence insulted. The act of saying ‘No’ to newspapers is hardly taxing for those of you reading this now. The harder task is to spread it as a national message and convince others.

A cause everyone can support

We are not breaking any law by making a personal decision not to buy newspapers.

We are not causing trouble by refusing to read newspapers.

We are not promoting racial disunity by boycotting newspapers.

Religion is not in this picture frame.

We’re doing good by saving money, close to RM1,000, in fact, if we cancel two annual subscriptions.

Why do this? Because we are Malaysians with conscience and our conscience is troubled.

We’d like everybody – anyone who reads online – to hop aboard and join in our demand for an end to MSM spinning and spinning webs of deceit.

Connect with us on how to break the mighty MSM monopoly of the Malaysian mind. We’d like your participation at People’s Parliament.

Cyberspace is as real as you care to make it. We can do more than talk. We can act.

We will.

3. BATU CAVES HINDU TEMPLE STORMED AND DEVOTEES ATTACKED

Police stormed and devotees attacked and beaten up with brutality at the Batu Caves Hindu temple in the early hours 25/11/07. We started receiving phone calls from about 4.00 a.m onwards that the riot police (FRU) police and plainclothes UMNO gangsters had stormed into Malaysia’s biggest Hindu temple Batu Caves temple and were attacking the hindu devotees.

For no reason or rhyme tear gas was fired at the peaceful hindu devotees inside Batu Caves. Then one hundred over were arrested, beaten up on site and then locked up.

Other innocent people passing by, coming to Batu Caves temple were arrested solely for the reason that they being Indians.

Among the examples are :

1. Gogilan a/l Murugaanthan (24) (I/C No : 730508-14-5759)- was inside his car nearby the Batu Caves temple when he was suddenly pounced upon pulled out of his car, beaten up by about 8-9 plainclothes racist UMNO mob, arrested by police, locked up and prosecuted for taking part in an unlawful assembly. Hundreds were beaten up while praying in this temple.

POLICE BRUTALITY ON PEACEFUL ASSEMBLERS IN AND AROUND THE KLCC AREA

Though the peaceful assembly was only scheduled to start at 9.00 a.m peaceful assemblers had started gathering since midnight as they wanted the beat the intended police roadblocks.Water canons and tear gas were fired from about 7.00 a.m onwards. Instead of firing upwards the police at times fired tear gas on the peaceful assemblers as if they were shooting stray dogs resulting in the following injuries.

1. Arumugam a/l Balakrishnan (photo enclosed) - Tear gas canister shot on the nose and was bleeding profusely and had broken nasal bone and had 27 stitches. admitted at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital. The police gave him RM20.00 and told him to take a taxi and go to the K.L General Hospital case covered up.

2. Bala (photo enclosed)- Tear gas canister hit his cheek and temple (bruised) after nearly missing his eye

3. One Tangam was assaulted and sustained injuries on his right hand.

4. The Malaysian Bar Council has a list of all the other injuries, beatings and other abuses.Thought the Inspector General of Police proclaimed that there was no body contact, the complaints we received proves otherwise.Kindly sack the Inspector General (IGP) of police and replace him with a more caring, non racist and justice conscious IGP.We call upon the Prime Minister to form a Royal Commission of Inquiry into this tregdy.

P.Uthayakumar car tyre slashes by UMNO / AGENTS

UMNO / AGENTS SLASHES P.UTHAYAKUMAR'S CAR TYRES (4) VENGENTLY BY THIS MORNING 3-12-2007

Mr.P.Waythamoorty Left M'sia , Head to India , London & UN / GENEVA / EUROPE

Hindraf Chairman and Barrister at Law (Lincoln’s Inn) Mr.P.Waythamoorthy had on 28/11/07 left Malaysia in light of the local crackdown and threatened (by the Prime Minister) detention without trial under the draconian Internal Security Act (ISA) and to lobby the international community’s support for the mere 8% ethnic minority Indians in Malaysia who have been marginalized and permanently colonialised by the racist, malay supremacist and Islamic fundamentalist UMNO controlled Malaysian Government. This is as a last resort as the said UMNO led Malaysian government, the Prime Minister, Ministers and Deputy Ministers are going all out on a crackdown on peaceful and lawful Hindraf supporters and their lawyers. The UMNO controlled print and electronic media are publishing and broadcasting almost daily over the past two(2) weeks and mostly on their headlines false, racial and religious hatred news against Hindraf. But they would not be prosecuted for Sedition unlike what they have already done to the three (3) Hindraf lawyers as they control the Attorney General, Courts, police, army, civil servants and the entire government machinery.

INDIA LOBBY

Mr.P.Waythamoorthy is expected to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister The Hon Mr.M.Karunanidhi and Opposition Leader Selvi Jayalalitha soon. Thereafter he would proceed to New Dehli with the view to meet the Prime Minister of India The Hon Mr.Manmohan Singh’s Senior Private Secretary and also the Indian Foreign Minister.

LONDON LOBBY

Mr.P.Waythamoorthy would thereafter proceed to London and meet the Malaysian desk officer at the Foreign and Commonwealth office of the British Foreign Ministry. Thereafter he would try and meet the British Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Gardon Brown’s Senior Private Secretary. Meetings are also being arranged with Amnesty International London Interrights, Frontline Defenders, Dublin, and about 18 other human rights NGOS’ in London.

U.N / GENEVA / EUROPE

Thereafter Mr.P.Waythamoorthy would proceed to the office of the United Nations (U.N) High Commissioner for Human Rights and the other U.N bodies in Geneva and lodge a formal complaint against Malaysia for it’s 50 years of atrocities against the ethnic minority Indians in Malaysia. Thereafter he is expected to meet up with about 22 human rights NGOS’ in Geneva Brussells and other cities in Europe. Thereafter Mr.P.Wathyamoorthy is flying to Washington to meet the U.S State Department Malaysia desk officer, U.S Congressman and Senators Secretaries, Human Rights Watch and about 20 other NGOS’ in Washington and New York.In all the above destinations Mr.P.Wythamoorthy is also expected to lobby the Bar Associations in Madras, New Delhi, London, Geneva, Brussels, Washington and New York etc against especially the three (3) Hindraf lawyers for speaking up the truth but are maliciously prosecuted for Sedition and also the malicious assault, beat up, racist and malicious prosecution, harassment and intimidation of the 200 over hindraf peaceful assemblers who were merely exercising constitutional rights further to Article 10 of the Federal Constitution.

Thank You,
Yours Faithfully
